Each year, Marsha Nieland of Fusion Studios hosts a women’s yoga retreat in Mexico. I have had the opportunity to join this trip for the past two years. The week-long retreat in a tropical location at the end of February is a wonderful opportunity to step away from day-to-day responsibilities. The retreat offers an opportunity to disconnect from the “real world” of technology, work, and family, and is an incredible opportunity to connect on a deeper level in areas that I care about. During both retreats, I was able to connect with:
- a daily yoga practice;
- the power of regular meditation;
- like-minded women;
- the beauty of nature;
- fresh, healthy food;
- my own internal voice, pointing me in the direction of my passion for writing.
The retreat offers the opportunity to spend a week focused on all of these connections in a way that my regular life doesn’t allow.
Marsha provides a welcoming environment each and every week in the regular yoga class I attend at Fusion. During the weeklong yoga retreat, she has the opportunity to go even further with her leadership to welcome each woman, make them feel seen and heard, help them take their yoga practice to the next level and to leave after our time spent together with a better sense of themselves. One hour a week spent in Marsha’s presence is great but seven days spent together with her focus and energy is amazing! Marsha partners with Avianna Castro for these retreats and Avianna brings her own special magic to our meditations and to our self-reflections, tapping into our souls and our inner voices for greater self-discovery.
Both years, I have come home from the retreats feeling rejuvenated; more in-tune with myself and with my yoga practice; and closer to the women in our yoga community. These trips are a gift to myself which provide me with stronger connections to be the best version of myself for the year ahead.
